SO DISAPPOINTED!!!

I have seen Phantom in Toronto with Colm Wilkinson, three times on Broadway, and three times in Cleveland. I was so disappointed that my son, who was seeing it for the first time, saw this production. It lacked the drama and the feeling that has always been a part of every production. I missed the Phantom taking Christine down the ramps, for lack of a better word, into his lair and the candelabras that rose from the floor. I missed the stairs and the costumes during Masquerade, including the Phantom's dramatic costume and entrance. I missed the Phantom atop of the audience right before intermission. There was none of the Phantom wanting to make Christine his bride, no final scene in the chair. There was none of the pain that was evident with former Phantoms. Why was the Phantom all over the floor? The songs were rushed and nothing felt believable. I am obviously a huge fan of the show, but would not ever return to see this production. Why mess with perfection?

WELL SUNG, BUT PRODUCTION PRODUCTION DESIGN LEFT A LOT TO BE DESIRED.

I've heard comments from some as to the lack of talent of the cast, but I thought all the major folks sang there parts very well. Particularly the actor playing Raoul. That said, the production itself was pretty lackluster and cramped as it was jammed into the State Theatre and not spacious Connor Theatre. Hardly worth the price, though the place was jammed for a Saturday Matineeq

PHANTOM OF THE OPERA AT THE PANTAGES JUNE 2019

This was a disappointment. The singing, acting and orchestra all amazing, the set and production a cheap rendition of what use to be an amazing show. I would never pay 165.00 + for tickets to see this. Nothing like the original set. I hope they return to the old set and production. Simple back drops for what use to be wonderful set designs to create the scene so you could become complete absorbed into the story, It was like watching a rehearsal. Thumbs down. Cheap set and stage (but talented actors and beautiful voices).

CHEAP CHICAGO RUN VERSION OF "PHANTOM" WHY CHEAP?

DISAPPOINTING Saw this 'new improved' version on it's second day, a matinee. Disappointing production. (CHEAP) For some reason, the entire stage wasn't used, it seemed to be 'shrunk' by about 1/3. You could see both the characters as well as those moving the sets come and go from the stage on each side. Premier Scene of the staircase in the Mascarade scene is not included. The chandelier does not moveon stage/drop.... to the costumes were not special,CHEAP to me the sets were underwhelming. and CHEAP I've seen the Phantom 5-6 times in Chicago and at Venetian in Vegas and the venues were full stage It must be a Chicago CHEAP thing. This honestly seemed more like a high school production than a Broadway show. At $100 for a matinee, I do not recommend this particular production. 2019 traveling tour was horrific. The stage and costumes were very dark and reminded me of a dinner play house. I was shocked during “Masquerade “.NO STAIRCASE OR COSTUMES By far the worse production of phantom that I have ever seen. DID i SAY chicago WAS CHEAP? CHEAP!

Overall, if you haven't seen the phantom before, this version was ok. Here is what was wrong. No Staircase in Masquerade. Bummer! No chandelier drop in the beginning. No jump from the scaffolding. The catacombs were not very expansive. The songs and production seemed rushed. What was the hurry? Christine's friend and the guy that gets hanged had almost no parts. The Point of no return was NOT sung in the lair at the end. Really disappointing. The Phantom's disappearance was the weakest I've seen in 30 years. The voices were good, the acting was ok. It just felt wrong. The singing voices could have been louder. I did enjoy it. After all, it's the Phantom of the opera! The room was cold!

IF YOU SAW THE ORIGINAL, KEEP YOUR MEMORIES

I have never seen the original production and have been waiting over a decade to see this. I adore the music. I was heartbroken by the "new" production of the Phantom of the Opera. It was underwhelming, quiet/soft, hard to hear (multiple actors singing), hard to follow, and missing all the bone-chilling notes, emotion and magic I was expecting or remembered about this iconic musical. The orchestra sounded great and set design was done well, but lacked any grandeur as the stage was too small, and there were hardly any special effects which is what I assume really makes the Phantom come to life on stage. In general, it was "just OK" - the production lacked any "wow" factor and I feel robbed of the chilling, mystical and magical experience and music that would fill your body, that I was expecting or hoping for. I really wish I could see the original production now. Save your money on this "new" production and just watch the movie and turn up the volume!

PHANTOM DISAPPOINTMENT AT THE MAJESTIC

performance was MONDAY, 2/5 AT 8:00 This was our 3rd time seeing TPOTO but 1st in NYC. Very disappointed in the actors who played the phantom and Christine"s boyfriend. The phantom sang off key....often at the beginning of a song it was very difficult to hear him. He didn't caress Christine during the seductive scenes. Rouelle was simply clumsy on stage and was not convincing at all. He often appeared confused, not knowing quite how to position himself on the stage. There was no natural chemistry between he and Christine and this came across during the performance. Sorry.....we just didn't feel this was worth the money.
