PLANNING

Who in this economy and this market really has $100 -$300 to spend per person to see a show that was not advertised until the last minute on a week night ? Reasonable ticket prices with more notice would earn a lot more money than this ill conceived joke!

DID I SEE THE SHOW ON A NIGHT WITH UNDERSTUDIES??

I wondered how they were going to interpret this movie for a show - they did an ok job with that. My gripe is that the leads (on the night I saw it) were definitely not the quality of talent that I expected. "Alex" had a great voice - but was severely lacking in the dance category ....and it's a show about a dancer! When she came out on stage for the first dance scene, my daughter and I looked at each other in shock! So, overall I was disappointed with the quality, not the show itself.

DISAPPOINTED

I have been to a few plays this year and really enjoyed them. Rock of Ages, Book of Mormon and The Jersey Boys. I was really looking forward to Flashdance as I saw the movie in the 80's. I just felt it was a bit boring, the lead role dancing was just ok and I just did not leave the show excited as I did with the other plays. My wife felt the same way, she had never seen the movie. I thought she would really be excited since she did not know anything about the play or movie.

A PRETTY BIG LET DOWN

Great female lead and backups, amazing set and lighting design, poor male lead and music. Alex was simply fantastic to watch and listen to as well as the parts of Gloria and Jimmy. Nick's character was quite boring and the poor musical score let the show down. Aside from the old songs from the movie, I left the theatre without being able to remember a single song from the show.

NOT SO GOOD

I was so excited and let down. The dancers could not even dance well. Atleast though the main person that she could dance and she was not a good dancer.

SO DISAPPOINTED

A musical about a dancer should cast a skilled dancer as the lead. This production has a female lead that can sing exceptionally well but can't dance to save her life. No turn out, no extension, no follow through. And not one female dancer nailed a pirouette the entire show. There appeared to be scenes where the dancing was ad-libbed and was awkward. In Alex's water dance, she actually finished dancing a good 10 seconds before the music ended! The choreography was repetitive - in every scene we saw a fan kick, some breakdance arm-crossed pop and some weird deep lunge thing. If you don't know the story, you won't figure it out here. There is no continuity in this production. If you are going to make a musical about an iconic 80's movie the character development should be the same - Alex is not an angry woman, Tess is kind and gracious and Mr. Hurley is older than Alex, confident and self-assured. Not one of these attributes exists in this production. Toronto audiences deserve better.

DISSAPOINTED

Just back form seeing Flashdance and was very disappointed . i didn't connect with any of the characters, usually I am looking forward to seeing a character come back on stage but i was left without any real favourite. Found I was waiting the whole show for the finale of "what a Feeling" and to be honest it was a long wait. Maniac was incredibly shortened and nothing to wrote home about. While I am no expert, I was not impressed with the dancing or singing, several notes were missed. i am happy I got my tickets half price, I would have been even more upset if I'd paid full price.
